4 Week Pottery Wheel Course

Welcome to our weekend school art program for your creative teens. Watch as they learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing at this 4 Week Pottery Wheel Course for Young Adults, on the Mandurah Foreshore! Class times available on Sundays (1:30 – 4 pm)! Ages 12-18 welcome.

4 WK BEGINNERS
Four – 2.5 hr Pottery Classes (ages 12 +)
Class time on Sundays, from 1:30 – 4 pm, each week!
suitable for all skill levels.
all instructors have valid working with children checks.
WEEK 1 – wedging, centering, opening a vessel
WEEK 2 – hand trimming & pulling up plate forms
WEEK 3 – pulling up bowl & cup forms
BONUS SESSION – during week 3, bring your parent/friend along for free & teach them what you’ve learnt!
WEEK 4 – basics of hand embellishment (handles, underglazing, carving & miniature sculpting)
Goal of the Course – Begin to master the fundamentals of throwing basic forms. Each week, the forms we make, increase in level of difficulty. At the end of the course, your goal is to finish 6 pieces (6 included, additionals are +$10 per piece). Small group of 5 students, on Sundays (1:30-4pm).
6 WK INTERMEDIATE
Four – 2.5 hr Pottery Classes (ages 12 +)
Class time on Sundays, from 1:30 – 4 pm, each week!

WEEK 1 – Throwing tall 1kg Cylinders
WEEK 2 – Advanced trimming & shaping
WEEK 3 – Throwing bigger 3 kg bowls
BONUS SESSION – during week 3, bring your parent/friend along for free & teach them what you’ve learnt!
WEEK 4 – Developing personal style through Underglazing, slip trailing, sgraffito & sculpting
Goal of the Course – Advance into throwing larger shapes with bigger amounts of clay. Each week, the amount of clay to control will increase in level of difficulty. At the end of the course, your goal is to finish 6 pieces (6 included, additionals are +$10 per piece). Small group of 5 students, on Sundays (1:30-4pm).
COST OF COURSE
Cost of 4 Wk Course ($325 for 5 sessions/12 course hours). The cost per course hour is $27.08.
INCLUDES:
All your clay, instruction, access to our studio for practicing, use of our tools & equipment and firing & glazing for your favourite artworks (trimmed, polished, bisque fired, glazed & high fired).

Makeups – If you need to make up a class during your course, you will get to choose 1 of 3 options…
1) Makeup your lesson in another Group Class (provided there is space & the content/ages taught matches)
2) Opt for an extra Practice Session instead
3) Private/semi-private Makeup Lesson (We have discounted these Private Lessons to our Course Students. From $149 to $50. These can be booked on ANY day/time that suits you). This cost can be shared amongst more than 1 student needing to make up a lesson.

AFTER THE COURSE
After the Course – Still loving it after your course?
1) Consider re-enrolling for our Intermediate Teens course to advance their skills.
2) Use our studio casually for just $30 Sunday Casual Studio Sessions (2-4pm). We will help you set up a small gift voucher for your teen to manage their resources at the studio (clay use & firing budget).
