FAQ
1) Can I glaze my own pieces?

You must be a ‘TMM Studio Member’ to utilise our glaze library independently or ‘TMM Makers Circle Member’ who is glaze lab approved by a TMM team member.

2) Can I use my own glaze?

Yes of course – as long as you are confident your recipe/application is safe to fire to cone 9 (1280*C, OX). PLEASE NOTE, if your self glazed piece runs onto our kiln shelf, we charge a kiln shelf repair fee of $15 (or the cost of a new shelf in severe cases).

3) Can I hire an entire kiln and fire to a different cone?

We currently do not offer this, but may do so in the future. Please stay tuned, via social media, for updates on this much requested service.

Kiln Terms & Conditions

GLAZING: Please note that we fire to cone 9 (1280*C) oxidization. Glazing is a chemical process, although results can be anticipated, no result can ever be guaranteed. We do not offer refunds for glazes not turning out as anticipated, as results can vary based from shelf to shelf & kiln to kiln (ex. our front loader has a few shelves that produce more reduction style results). If you would like to do a test of your/our glaze on your claybody, we offer a test tile service for $5. If an error in the firing occurs, you will be contacted by one of our team for a refund.

DAMAGES TO KILN: In order to use your own glaze, you must be confident your recipe/application is safe to fire to cone 9 (1280*C, OX). PLEASE NOTE, if your self glazed piece runs onto our kiln shelf, we charge a kiln shelf repair fee of a minimum of $15 (or in severe cases, you may be liable for the cost of a new shelf).

CRACKS & BREAKS: Please note that we fire bisque to 1050*C & glaze fire to 1280*C. In the unfortunate case where your pottery breaks or cracks in the kiln, Two Muddy Men do not offer refunds, as this is the nature of the firing process- pottery is a beautiful yet delicate process. While we take the utmost care to ensure all works are completed in the best conditions, in the case were any ceramics breaks due to mishandling, you will be contacted by one of our team for a refund. Refunds are limited to the price you paid for firing.

PICKUPS: You will be notified via text msg when your artworks are ready to be picked up. You have 3 weeks from the completion date to pick them up. We do not guarantee their safe keeping beyond this point. Damages during storage are limited to a refund of services ordered. If your artworks remain in our posession for longer than 3 weeks, we will rent you shelf space at $5 per week, paid for upon pickup of your artworks.
