MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

Guidelines for using the Studio

Our goal is to create an imaginative space to create and honours individuality. As a Studio Member, you are an important member of our creative family.

Below are a simple set of rules that each studio member must follow. Please review each carefully.  Note, we use a 3 Strikes system for all rules, except for numbers 1 & 2 (grounds for immediate termination of membership).

Member Responsibilities

 1) Studio must be locked & safe upon my exit. If I am the last to leave, I  take responsibility for turning off all lights, ensure both doors are locked, air conditioner is off, etc.

2) I will never open any kiln. Only Terraform team members have the authority to open kilns. I understand this can be incredibly dangerous to my safety and will not hold Terraform Studio liable for failing to follow this rule.

3) I will prebook all after hours studio sessions via the website & my online portal. If I only plan to attend only during normal business hours, and do not book in, I understand the studio may not be available upon my arrival due to private events, workshops, special closures, etc. Note from the Owners: Our insurer requires records of access of all after-hours users/visits so we must strictly enforce this rule.

4) I will aim to leave my work area a little better than I found it. All shared tools/equipment/dishes/etc that I used during my session must be cleaned and reset. I understand I may be charged a $50 cleaning fee if I forget to clean my area.

5) I will manage the drying of my artworks so that all trimming/carving is done to leather hard works. In the event that my artwork is too dry, I will perform all editing/trimming/carving to bone dry works outside in the open air.

6) I am I capable of using the studio independently (ie. I do not require physical or technical assistance to in order to create my ideas).

7) I understand that the main purpose of my visit must be to create & support other artists. If my visit becomes disruptive, or if I have not booked in, I know I may be asked to leave.

8) If I have an idea for a members-organised event or artsy social event we would like to run for members, I will email Kell or Isaac at hello@terraformstudio.com.au for approval (include date, timeframe, idea, etc).

9) I understand that the ‘Get Muddy’ Private Events & Workshops are the lifeblood of the studio. Without them, the studio would cease to exist. If my session is occurring during the time of a workshop, course, private event – I will give priority & kindness to the attendees of those events.

10) As a Studio Member, I will aim to embrace our ‘Muddy Code’. This ‘Code of Ethics’ was born from the incredible culture that manifested naturally at our studio. We expect each new member to become a caretaker of this culture & embody these very same values.

11) After I purchase an item from the Terraform Shop/Website (clay, tools, etc) I will seek a member of staff to fulfill & collect my order (please allow 1-2 business days). I will not self-fulfill my order.

12) I will be conscientious of Studio Staffs’ time & duties. A note from the Owners: We work tirelessly to provide for our staff’s livelihood and ensure they have the knowledge to help you. When they are in the studio, they are here to help answer questions related to your order, where to find a certain tool, studio runnings, etc. Their time is not to be monopolised for – technique related questions or extended social interactions of a personal nature. If you accidentally do this, please offer to help them in return for their time.

13) I understand the Studio Staff are more than the service they provide to the studio & our members. I will respect their work-life balance and treat them with kindness. They are Artists & members themselves. If I need help during one my sessions, I will make sure to ask who is on shift, so I can best direct my questions to a working staff member.
